Dear Pastor's Kids,
I hope this letter finds you well, whether you are now adults or if you grew up as pastor's kids back in the early 2000s. I want you to know that I understand the unique challenges and blessings that come with being part of a pastor's family. Those years, spent wandering around the pews and listening to worship practice, with no excuses to skip church kids' club during the week, were truly something special.
I want to acknowledge the incredible strength and resilience of your parents, who have fought spiritual battles that you may never fully comprehend. They have been unwavering rocks, carrying the weight of pastoral responsibilities even when some people have not appreciated their efforts. It can be disheartening to witness others not honoring your parents and the calling that God has placed upon their lives. For that, I'm truly sorry that they may not fully understand the significance of their role.
In those times when you felt like you couldn't hide your faith because everyone knew who you belonged to, remember that you belong to the King of Kings. You were raised in a Christian faith where you likely witnessed remarkable and unexpected miracles. I can recall a time when our family had absolutely no money, and yet, cash was mysteriously posted through our letterbox. It's moments like these that remind us of God's provision and His presence in our lives.
I also want to acknowledge the pain that some of you may have experienced due to church hurt. Unfortunately, people can sometimes be a poor reflection of Jesus, but it's essential to remember that they are human, just like you. If you've walked away from the church because of hurt, I encourage you to take those wounds to Jesus and find it in your heart to forgive. Your faith journey is a personal one, and I promise you that Jesus can restore and heal you. It's my hope that you'll consider reconnecting with your faith and your church family. Your unique perspective and experiences as pastor's kids can be a source of strength and inspiration for others. Remember God has called you to a specific purpose that only you can live out and you can't ride on your parents faith you have to have your on conviction inside of you.
You are part of a rich tapestry of faith, and your story is still being written. May you find the peace, love, and forgiveness that you seek on this journey.
With warmest regards,
Zoe
