How do you serve Jesus with a chronic illness?

Over the past few months, it has felt like I've only been surviving, not living. At one point, I could only manage to eat food and maybe take a shower. It was a balancing act, making sure I wasn't wearing myself out. My heart would beat so fast during a shower that it felt like I could pass out; even brushing my teeth was a milestone each day, as I felt so dizzy standing up with my heart racing.

I've felt challenged over the last few months about how I can serve God. Despite going through heart failure and two heart operations within 10 weeks of each other, I've been filled with passion to understand the purpose God has given me. I haven't felt bad about not physically serving in church, but I've wondered how I could serve the way I have been through prayer. I really feel that God has been speaking to me about what He would like to do with my life after I recover from these heart operations. Prayer is powerful and I think we underestimate the action of it and how it is serving God.

Colossians 4:2; Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

I feel fired up that God is doing something new, preparing a new way to move in our lives.

  • Pray for opportunities in your workplace and within your local community.

  • Pray that God will really show His face and those miracles you are waiting for.
